Hospitals and local health departments across Michigan will receive initial doses of Pfizer s COVID-19 vaccine in the coming days after it was granted emergency use authorization (EUA) from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Friday night for individuals 16 years of age and older.Â
Army Gen. Gustave F. Perna, with the federal government s Operation Warp Speed, said Saturday that shipping companies UPS and FedEx will deliver Pfizerâs vaccine to nearly 150 state locations beginning Monday. Another 450 sites will get the vaccine on Tuesday and Wednesday. Federal officials said 2.9 million would be sent around the country within days of an EUA.
The FDA Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee voted 17-4 Thursday to recommend the Pfizer vaccine candidate for EUA based on scientific evidence presented by the Pfizer officials, including Phase 3 efficacy and safety data.Â

LANSING, Mich. – This week is National Influenza Vaccination Week and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is reminding Michigan residents that it’s not too late to get vaccinated. Since COVID-19 and flu are likely to spread simultaneously this winter, all Michiganders aged 6 months and older should get their annual flu vaccine if they have not already.
“As we continue fighting to eradicate COVID-19, it’s crucial that all Michiganders get their flu vaccine to protect themselves and keep our hospitals from being overwhelmed,” said Gov. MARQUETTE Businesses that require social gatherings for customers and have experienced disrupted operations due to COVID-19 epidemic orders now have additional time to make their December sales, use and withholding tax monthly payment, according to the Michigan Department of Treasury.
Effective immediately, most entertainment and recreational venues and restaurants that depend on indoor dining scheduled to make their monthly sales, use and withholding tax payments on Dec. 20 can postpone filing and payment requirements until Jan. 20. The state Treasury Department will waive all penalties and interest for 31 days.
“Allowing small businesses affected by COVID mitigation protocols more time to pay their taxes will provide some crucial support to business owners that are struggling right now,” Gov.
