Media release: 10×10 trends for music’s next decade
THE BPI today publishes the latest in its series of Insight Session reports: 10 x 10: Ten Trends for the Next Ten Years, which follows the Insight Session on the subject held last month on 15th April.
The report, available to read and download here, was produced for the BPI by Music Ally and is also presented in association with BPI official partner, Bowers & Wilkins.
Opening with an introduction by BPI chief executive, Geoff Taylor, and ending with a
section on key takeaways and suggested further reading, the 42-page report looks
ahead to the 2020s across a range of dimensions, covering each of ten-minute

In Abba, Bjorn Ulvaeus tasted the highest reaches of musical fame, selling millions of albums that defined earworm 1970s pop and remain an inextricable part of the pop-culture fabric. Somewhere around the world, at least in normal times, a wedding reception is always bopping to âTake a Chance on Meâ or âDancing Queen.â

Ruhrmann: ‘Currently Under Development’
With its announcement today (May 6), the Frankfurt-based digital distributor Bookwire steps into the blockchain discussion, creating what it’s calling a new NFT marketplace “for the publishing and creator industry.”
“NFT” stands for “non-fungible token.” It’s a quantity of data stored on a digital ledger that underlies a blockchain. An NFT then works like an identifier, separate from copyright, verifying ownership of a digital property especially significant for digital files like JPGs and MPGs which can be easily copied and shared online. While NFTs won’t prevent that kind of sharing, they do provide a framework for proving who owns what.
