Minor hockey at least in Strathroy is officially over for this season after Strathroy Minor Hockey issued a statement Friday due to the Ontario government’s mandate that the Middlesex Health Unit move into the Red-Control level as of today. President Warren Woodiwiss says
the season was split up into 2 seasons during the pandemic.
Registration money that was paid for the second session will be refunded by cheque within the next month. If you do not receive your refund by March 12th please contact Strathroy Minor Hockey.
As far as Minor Hockey in Mount Brydges, they are in a wait and see mode right now saying they are hopeful that our area will be moved into the Orange-Restrict level in a couple of weeks and at that time they may be able to finish out the hockey season. Mount Brydges utilized a full year registration compared to Strathroy’s 2-part season registration format.

The London region recorded five more COVID-19 deaths over the weekend, making December the second-deadliest month of the pandemic.
London and Middlesex recorded 65 new cases of the virus on Sunday, including one death, the London-Middlesex Health Unit said.

That fatality, a man in his 80s, comes one day after health officials announced four more people died from the virus Saturday, when 87 new cases were confirmed, shattering the previous single-day record of 67 cases, set just on Friday.

Fanshawe College announced on Monday that they have their first confirmed COVID case in residence. It is still unclear on how the student contracted it but the student and close contacts are in self-isolation both on and off campus and are doing well. The Middlesex Health Unit is investigating the case and checking with the students daily to make sure they are doing well.
Fanshawe has done a good job of keeping COVID off campus with daily screening for everyone on campus, but the approach they took to residence this year has helped minimize risk. Brenda Henry from the College spoke with XFM News on this.
