Former Uxbridge town accountant faces additional charges
BOSTON A former municipal accountant who is already facing more than a dozen charges in connection of stealing from Uxbridge, Millville and Monterey is now facing additional charges of stealing from more communities.
A statewide grand jury recently indicted Justin Cole, 39, of Harvard, on additional charges for additional thefts in Uxbridge, as well as in Wenham.
In all, Cole is accused of stealing approximately $930,000 from the various communities, including more than $700,000 from Uxbridge alone.
Cole was originally charged last year. At the time, the state Attorney General’s Office said he stole cash from Uxbridge from 2012 to 2017 by submitting and approving dozens of false invoices and other submissions that caused the town to pay for services he did not provide.
The judge is expected to find Yao not guilty based on his lack of criminal responsibility due to his severe mental illness and send Yao to Bridgewater State Hospital, the defense said. He will remain at this hospital potentially for the rest of his life, unless he is found to be rid of his mental illness and he no longer presents a danger to anyone in the community, Carney said.
A Middlesex County Grand Jury indicted Yao on Sept. 21, 2018. He faces charges of murder, armed assault with intent to murder a person over 60 and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60.
