2 teens charged in shooting that left 18-year-old dead, 17-year-old injured Updated Feb 05, 2021; Two teens were charged Friday in connection with a shooting at a North Brunswick apartment complex on Wednesday that left an 18-year-old dead and a 17-year-old injured, authorities said. The pair of 17-year-old North Brunswick residents, who were not identified because of their age, were charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, according to a joint statement from the North Brunswick Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. One of the male juveniles was arrested Friday while the other remained on the loose, police said.

Authorities responded to Marc Drive following reports of a shooting at around 7:30 p.m. Feb. 3, according to information provided by Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Joseph Battaglia of the North Brunswick Township Police Department. Upon their arrival, officers located a male juvenile, 17, of North Brunswick, who had sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound, according to reports.  Upon further investigation, officers later found Marc Atkins, 18, of Plainfield, who had also sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, according to the statement.

North Brunswick Deadly Shooting Under Investigation By rlsmetro on The Middlesex County Prosecutor s Office has been notified of a shooting that left one person dead in North Brunswick Thursday morning.  According to a preliminary investigation, at approximately 12:17 a.m., police responded to reports of an injured person at an address on Marc Drive.  Upon arrival, police found an unidentified person suffering gunshot injuries. The victim was pronounced dead a short time later, according to authorities.  The motive for the shooting is under investigation and no arrests have been reported.

The shooting took place around midnight on Marc Drive just off Route 130, but the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office didn’t immediately provide additional information. A spokeswoman said the prosecutor’s office is assisting North Brunswick police in the ongoing investigation. Further details about the shooting are expected to be released later Thursday.
