Authorities have charged a Piscataway high school student with vehicular homicide and aggravated manslaughter in the death of his passenger, a fellow student, when a freight struck their vehicle last month.
The collision took place at New Brunswick Avenue and Tyler Place in Piscataway, where the vehicle was hit as it “drove through a railroad crossing” at the intersection, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Man altered benefits checks, stole $12K from social services board, authorities say

An East Brunswick man was charged Wednesday with stealing $12,000 from the Middlesex County Board of Social Services, authorities said.
Alejandro Urgilez, 33, was charged with forgery, theft by deception and uttering, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office announced Thursday.
Urgilzez was charged after an investigation revealed that he altered copies of benefits checks issued by the board and deposited about $12,000 in stolen funds into his bank account, the office alleged.
No other information was released Thursday night as the investigation into the alleged crime remained ongoing.

Old Bridge man sentenced to 15 years in prison, loss of license due to drunken auto fatality
An Old Bridge man has been sentenced for killing a teenager and injuring her passenger during a drunk driving crash last year.
Aliaksandr Tsytsenia, 30, of Old Bridge, was sentenced to an aggregate 15 years in prison on one count of second-degree vehicular homicide and one count of third-degree aggravated assault, according to information provided by Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief William Volkert of the Old Bridge Police Department on Dec. 16.
The Honorable Diane Pincus, J.S.C. ordered Tsytsenia’s prison sentences be served consecutively. Tsytsenia will have to serve the first 8-and-a-half years of his sentence without parole, pursuant to the No Early Release Act, according to the statement.

A man who admitted driving under the influence in a crash that claimed the life of a 19-year-old MIT student from New Jersey last year was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in prison, officials said.
Aliaksandr Tsytsenia, 30, of Old Bridge, New Jersey, previously pleaded guilty to second-degree vehicular homicide and one count of third-degree aggravated assault for the deadly May 25, 2019 crash, according to a joint statement from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Old Bridge Police Department.
