Incidents were recently reported in North Ormesby and Berwick Hills whereby cold callers have asked residents for large deposits to carry out work on broken roof tiles. These happened on Friday January 22 and Sunday January 24, and on each occasion the cold callers suggested a £1,000 deposit, with the final work estimated to cost around £3,000. Cleveland officers say they want to remind residents to be vigilant around cold callers.

POLICE have arrested two people in connection with drugs offences after a warrant was executed at a property on Selbourne Street, Middlesbrough, yesterday evening (Wednesday). A man and woman, both aged 36, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs, class B drugs and class C drugs. Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team, alongside Police Dog Arthur, seized suspected methadone, cannabis and prescription medication from the property along with weapons (pictured). Sergeant John Sproson, from Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Police carried out this warrant as a result of information from the local community, who had concerns around suspected drugs activity and the associated antisocial behaviour. We will be working with partners to address these issues in the longer term.
