After jumping into an icy pond to help his little sister, 10-year-old Benjamin Luckett died Sunday and his sister remains in the hospital in critical condition, said Interim Pastor Stacy Stilgenbauer of Leawood East Baptist Church. There were five kids, all pretty active, and they were all very loving, Stilgenbauer said. They re a nice family. Benjamin Luckett and some of his siblings were enjoying the winter weather Sunday morning when 6-year-old Abigail Luckett slipped into icy water near Millington, said Stilgenbauer, a church staff member who has known the family for almost a decade. At least three of the kids were down near the pond, my understanding is Abigail fell in and Benjamin jumped in to go after her, Stilgenbauer said.
