There was nothing normal about 2020, even the simple act of enjoying a cold pint of Michigan beer. And while things weren’t the same, our Michigan breweries stepped up even more, not only brewing up some excellent beers, but also changing almost everything they do in order to remain open.
John Gonzalez and I have picked a few of our favorites that we tried over the last year to share with you, and we are asking for you to share your thoughts on great beers you had this year from Michigan breweries.

The Mitten Brewing Company is making special deliveries and donating pizza to those in need.
Co-owners Chris Andrus and Max Trierweiler dropped off boxes of pizza at Covenant House, a shelter for people ages 18 to 24.
The brewery says they ve relied heavily on their take-out pizza sales through the pandemic.
The owners say they take pride in giving back to the community.

Especially if you have a gift card or mug club membership?
Rochester Mills Production Brewery in Auburn Hills has created Brewnited, a campaign to support “our fellow Michigan brewers impacted by the pandemic.”
How it works:
The Mills Production Brewery’s Taproom will honor all gift cards to Michigan Breweries that are currently closed for business and unable to sell their beer to customers. Gift cards may be redeemed for draft beer or packaged (canned) beer to go only.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. The holiday season and the Broadway Bar go hand-in-hand in Grand Rapids. December is the busiest time of year for the bar, and the time when they make the majority of their business.
However, this year, with indoor service for restaurants and bars still closed, the bar is hurting. We’re usually beat by the end of the year, said owner Cynthia Berrignton, Now, we d give anything just to work.
