Midland Police seeing more auto-pedestrian accidents

MIDLAND, Texas Police are warning West Texans about the dangers of walking near busy roads.
Since Friday, there have been two fatal auto-pedestrian accidents in Midland, one on Midkiff and one on Wadley.
Police tell us the drivers were not at fault in the accidents
Instead, it was the pedestrians, not paying attention and crossing the street where they are not supposed to.
“For us it’s a concern because we see the trauma of it, Sgt. Ed Marker, Midland Police Traffic Unit, said. The person that hit them, even though it’s not their fault, it’s a trauma that’s going to last their lifetime.”
MPD to hold Memorial Service for Peace Officers Memorial Day

MIDLAND, Texas The Midland Police Department will be hosting their Memorial Service for Peace Officers Memorial day on May 11 at 3:00 p.m.
The event is part of National Police Week and will be held in front of the police station.
MPD will honor those who have sacrificed their lives while making sure their communities are safe.
This event will be open to the public.

MIDLAND, Texas The Midland Police Department is asking for feedback from the community.
The department issued a survey in order to collect comments and suggestions and help continue providing the best possible service to the community.
Survey takers can provide input on community concerns and department response among other things.

Police are urgently searching for the mother of a newborn baby found in a Birmingham park this evening.
The baby boy was found wrapped in a blanket in a community park known locally as The Mound off Shannon Road, in Kings Norton, by a resident at around 5.30pm.
He has been taken to hospital but police have still not found his mother.
They say they are extremely concerned for her welfare and are urgently appealing for anyone who knows her to come forward.
