HIGHER Education Minister Amon Murwira has allayed fears the government was working on implementing uniform curricula across all similar degree programmes offered by local universities.
However, he said the curricula were a model which focused more on teaching, research and community service and moving towards the adoption of innovation and industrialisation.
Murwira said visits and interactions to all the state-run universities and colleges operating in Harare revealed that both lecturers and students were confused on the new path the government had adopted.
However, some have criticised the process for allegedly seeking to create a uniform degree structure at all government-funded universities fearing this would likely affect the smooth flow of learning.
Potraz Donates to Physically Challenged Students

The Postal and Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (POTRAZ) has handed over 180 laptops to schools and institutions that cater for people physically challenged.
This comes as access to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become key in the fast growing digital world. ICT is seen as a major driver for economic growth.
The University of Zimbabwe (UZ) and Midlands State University (MSU) received 50 laptops each while Ingutsheni Central Hospital, Chengetai Special School, Nzeve Deaf Centre and Henry Murray each received 20 laptops.
Speaking at the handover ceremony in Harare, POTRAZ director general Dr Gift Machengete highlighted the need to promote inclusiveness and ensure no one is “left behind” in the digital world.

The piece by former Zanu PF elections strategist Jonathan Moyo chronicling the missed opportunities by the opposition in the political history of Zimbabwe has once again raised debate on the state of opposition politics in Zimbabwe.
The piece makes for a compelling case that should not escape the attention of anyone, who has an interest in party politics and how this relates to the wider question of strengthening democracy in Zimbabwe.
For the opposition, they would do well to consider the ideas and the rationale and ask themselves some difficult questions too.
