Former President Barack Obama was seen congratulating Vice President Kamala Harris at her inaugural ceremony on Wednesday in a moment that quickly went viral, as the first Black president fist bumped the first Black vice president at the US Capitol.
It was a historic sight, and one celebrated by Americans tuning in from across the country: the former president looked on as Ms Harris made her way to the inaugural dais and was sworn in as the first woman and Black and South Asian person to become vice president.
“So proud of you,” he could be heard saying to Ms Harris, as she smiled from behind her face mask.

Mike Pence then repeated the totals at 3:40 a.m., first for president, then for vice president.
Biden will take Trump’s place in the White House on Jan. 20.
Rep.
Louie Gohmert and other House Republicans attempted to object to Wisconsin’s electoral votes but did not have a senator join the objection. Gohmert said a senator had withdrawn his objection.
Biden and Harris finished with 306 electoral votes, while Trump and Pence finished with 232. A minimum 270 electoral votes are needed to win the White House.

One day after a mob descended on the U.S. Capitol, evacuating the House and Senate Chambers as Electoral Votes were being ceremonially counted, Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar is saying she is heartbroken over what took place.
“I just want everyone to know in Minnesota that this was an infuriating day yesterday,” Klobuchar says. “It was heartbreaking. This is the people s house and a mob literally was allowed to storm in.”
Klobuchar told WCCO Radio’s Dave Lee that she is proud of the fact that everyone in the House and Senate reconvened to get the job done once the Capitol was secured again.
