ST. PAUL Minnesotans in assisted living facilities can expect to see the first rounds of the coronavirus vaccine reach their communities beginning next week, state health officials told lawmakers on Wednesday, Jan. 6.
Residents in 2,272 assisted living facilities and patients at more than 100 dialysis centers are set to be offered the inoculations in the next round of vaccinations, Minnesota Department of Health Infectious Disease Director Kris Ehresmann told the Senate Aging and Long Term Care Policy Committee during a virtual hearing.

Pharmacy chains CVS Health and Walgreens launched a large-scale effort on Monday to help vaccinate residents and staff of Minnesota long-term care facilities for coronavirus.
CVS Health plans to vaccinate more than 63,000 residents and staff of nearly 600 skilled nursing and assisted living facilities across Minnesota during a 12-week effort that began in several states last week. We re actually going in three different times over a 12 week period, for us to ensure that we are taking care of the residents and the staff the first doses, those critical second booster doses, and then we are going back a third time to make sure we ve taken care of appropriately of everyone in these facilities, said Ashlee Slocum, a district leader with CVS Health.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (FOX 9) - The combination of shipping delays on a national level and a high impact winter storm means some of Minnesota s shipment of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is running a little behind schedule.
In a press briefing Wednesday, Minnesota Department of Health Infectious Disease Director Kris Ehresmann said Moderna s national distributor told the state officials they are behind on shipping vaccines. There are four providers three local public health agencies and one skilled nursing facility that will have shipments delayed.
