SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) The former Santa Rosa home of Barry Brodd, who testified as a defense witness in the Derrick Chauvin murder trial, was smeared with pig’s blood and had a severed pig’s head dumped on the front porch in an early Saturday morning vandalism attack.
Chauvin, a former Minneapolis police officer, is currently on trial facing murder charges in the death of George Floyd.
Santa Rosa police said officers responded at 3:07 a.m. to a residence in a west Santa Rosa neighborhood that had just been vandalized.

5 As the verdict in the former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin trial was announced, U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 133rd Airlift Wing were staged and ready to secure the Minneapolis Convention Center.
The Airmen were just 50 pieces to a 3,000-piece puzzle, activated to support Operation Safety Net, a unified effort between multiple Minnesota law enforcement organizations and the Minnesota National Guard. Guardsmen were pre-staged throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul to protect lives, property, and the right to peacefully protest.
“The Army is better suited to assist law enforcement due to their training and equipment capabilities,” said U.S. Air Force Maj. Casey Brown, Officer-In-Charge of team Bravo, 133rd Airlift Wing. “Conducting this security mission to ensure their forces were focused on supporting law enforcement was a perfect assignment for this team.”

Wednesday s COVID-19 update from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) includes 1,514 new cases and 22 new deaths.
The state s death toll is 7,113 since the start of the pandemic. Of the total deaths, 61.5% (4,358) were residents of long-term care.
Through April 25, the state reported that 2,468,406 people have received at least 1 dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while 1,811,171 people have completed their vaccine series.
Fifty-six percent of Minnesotans aged 16-plus have received at least one shot, while 86% of the age-65-plus population has had at least one dose of a vaccine. Overall, 44% of the state s population has had at least one dose.
