BURNSVILLE, Minn. A man is dead after being shot by police in Burnsville on Sunday afternoon, April 18, with authorities saying the man repeatedly fired a gun at officers before police returned fire.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said it was sending personnel to the scene along State Highway 13 at the interchange with Interstate 35W.
Burnsville police said the person who died is believed to be a white man in his 20s, and said he was a suspect in a carjacking.

A carjacking suspect is dead after he exchanged fire with police Sunday afternoon in Burnsville.
According to a police report, officers first encountered the suspect driving a vehicle with stolen plates, which he crashed. Police were then notified the same suspect had been involved in an armed carjacking.
Officers pursued the stolen vehicle, and around 3 p.m., the suspect reportedly fired multiple rounds at police before crashing the vehicle on Highway 13 near Interstate 35W and continuing to shoot at the officers. Several officers shot back, striking the suspect.
The suspect, a man believed to be in his 20s, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. No officers were hurt.

MINNEAPOLIS The funeral for Daunte Wright, the 20-year-old who was shot and killed by a police officer in Brooklyn Center, will be held at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church on Bryant Avene in Minneapolis, according to a news report.
The funeral will take place on April 22 at 12 p.m., FOX 9 reported. It s not yet known if the service will be open to the public.
Rev. Al Sharpton, whose National Action Network group is paying for the funeral expenses, will give a eulogy at the funeral.

(ABC 6 News) - Authorities in Minnesota say they’re investigating an officer-involved shooting in the Minneapolis suburb of Burnsville.
The Burnsville Police Department sent out a statement saying it started after a white man, believed to be in his 20s, allegedly stole a car on Sunday afternoon. Burnsville Police say initial reports indicate that the suspect fired numerous shots at officers who returned fire. The incident took place near the Interstate 35W and County Road 13 exit ramps. Police say the suspect was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center where he later died.

Police fatally shoot carjacking suspect near Minneapolis
A man suspected of a carjacking was fatally shot by police in Burnsville, Minnesota, Sunday afternoon, according to a press release from the Burnsville Police Department.
The suspect, described as a White man in his 20s, initially crashed a vehicle with stolen plates before carjacking a second vehicle at gunpoint, according to police in Burnsville, which is about 16 miles south of Minneapolis.
Police pursued the stolen vehicle while the man allegedly shot at police, the release said. The man then crashed this vehicle while still firing at police and multiple officer returned fire, the release said.
