The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension s agents and crime scene investigators are headed to Coon Rapids Monday after an officer-involved shooting.
Coon Rapids Police Chief Brad Wise confirmed that officers shot an armed individual who was the subject of a 911 call reporting a suicidal man. I know the officers showed tremendous restraint and were really desperate to avoid using deadly force, Wise said. Unfortunately they had to use their firearms in this case. Now we re all hoping he s going to survive.

There is sufficient cause for a Duluth police officer to stand trial on felony firearm charges stemming from the shooting of an unarmed man through the door of a downtown apartment, a judge ruled Monday.
Sixth Judicial District Judge Sally Tarnowski denied Tyler Foster Leibfried s motion to dismiss counts of intentionally and recklessly discharging a firearm in the September incident that left 23-year-old Jared Fyle with a bullet lodged in his back.

COON RAPIDS, Minn. The Coon Rapids police chief confirms his officers shot an armed man after a confrontation in a residential neighborhood on Monday afternoon.
The man was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital, where his condition is unknown but police did say he was in stable condition before being transported. No officers were injured during the confrontation.
Police Chief Brad Wise said officers were responding to a 911 call about a suicidal man at a home in Coon Rapids. Wise said the man came out of the home armed as officers were trying to negotiate with him.

ST. CLOUD A St. Cloud man made his first appearance in Sherburne County Court Monday in connection with the death of a 25-year-old man whose body was found last November near St. Cloud Regional Airport.
Ricco Dejon Tyson, 43, is charged with second-degree murder and first-and second-degree manslaughter in the death of Tyler Ecklund, according to a Sherburne County press release.
Sherburne County District Court Judge Walter Kaminsky set bail for Tyson at $2 million without conditions and $1 million with conditions.
Tyson is accused of killing Ecklund and disposing of his body near the airport in southeast St. Cloud. Ecklund was found dead in a vacant lot in the 1000 block of 55th Avenue Southeast on the evening of Nov. 14. According to an autopsy, Ecklund died of a gunshot wound to the head.
