Author: Dana Thiede Updated: 2:32 PM CST January 11, 2021 ROBBINSDALE, Minn Authorities have identified the man fatally shot last week during an encounter with police in Robbinsdale.  The Hennepin County Medical Examiner s office says 47-year-old Brian Eugene Andren of Ramsey died Jan. 8 of multiple gunshot wounds. Agents from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) are handling the investigation into Andren s death, which took place just before 11 a.m. last Friday on the 3700 block of Noble Avenue North. Robbinsdale police say officers first saw Andren s pickup at a convenience store at 36th and Noble, and learned that he had a felony warrant out for his arrest from the state of South Dakota.

Jan 9, 2021 ROBBINSDALE (AP) Officers in a Minneapolis suburb shot and killed a man Friday after he refused their commands to drop a knife and rushed at them following a brief chase, police said. The shooting in Robbinsdale happened shortly before 11 a.m., police said in a statement. The man, who was white, was driving a truck owned by someone wanted on a felony warrant. Police didn’t release the man’s name, say if he was the truck’s owner or explain the nature of the charge or charges laid out in the warrant. After a short pursuit that ended when officers blocked the truck, the man got out holding a knife and refused officers’ commands to drop it, according to police. Officers tried to use a stun gun on the man, but it didn’t stop him.

Robbinsdale Police Chief Patrick Foley said the driver led officers on a short chase into a residential neighborhood, where they boxed in the man s truck. He then exited the vehicle brandishing a knife and ignored commands to drop the weapon. Officers attempted the use of a Taser, however that was unsuccessful, Foley said in a written statement. The suspect continued to charge officers with the knife in an aggressive manner.
