(Cleveland) - As you d know, there is a lot of local reaction to Tuesday s verdict that former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of all charges in the death of George Floyd last May.
An official statement from the City of Cleveland encouraged everyone to express their views on the verdicts in compliance with the law. it adds that the city supports the First Amendment rights of citizens to free speech and assembly, and encourages people to express their views and opinions, however lawfully.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said that the system of justice worked, as the jury members listened to both sides, weighed the evidence, and came to this verdict.

COLUMBUS, OHIO: The fatal police shooting of Ma’Khia Bryant, a Black teenager seen on video charging at two people with a knife, came within minutes of the verdict in George Floyd’s killing causing outrage by some over the continued use of lethal force by Columbus police.

Multnomah County Sheriff Mike Reese issued this statement Tuesday afternoon, immediately upon learning of the convictions of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd:
Today, by a jury of his peers, former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all counts for the murder of George Floyd. While the verdict will never bring back George Floyd, it provides a measure of closure to his family, friends and the greater community. The systems of accountability worked, holding an individual, who worked within that very system, responsible for their criminal actions.
