The Labor Party is currently in the “fight of its life” and yet some on the left are “refusing to recognise it,” according to Sky News contributor Caleb Bond.
“In fact, I think some are so blinded by their elitism that they’re actively willing it into being, not recognizing that they will ultimately kill their own movement.”

Claims of an incident involving a “precariously” dangling shipping container that is said to have endangered the lives of workers at the 189MW Suntop solar project, south of Dubbo in regional New South Wales, are being investigated.
Video footage and photographs distributed along with a media release from the NSW and ACT branch of the Electrical Trades Union show a shipping container being shifted by a crane at the site, and appearing to hang dangerously over a portable lunch room with people inside.
The ETU claims the incident this week put workers lives at risk at the solar farm, and that despite multiple complaints to the company running the site, Bouygues Construction Australia, the matter was covered up and not reported to SafeWork NSW.
It found an astonishing number of blue-collar workers - proud union members no less - are abandoning the party because of its perceived preoccupation with fringe issues that have no relevance to them. The mainstream disconnect is exactly what key Labor figures such as former Right faction leader and Hunter MP Joel Fitzgibbon, WA Premier Mark McGowan, NSW leadership contender Chris Minns and Bankstown MP Tania Mihailuk have warned about but there has been little hard data until now. It also has grave implications for the Upper Hunter by-election in NSW which is a litmus test for state Labor leader Jodi McKay and will also determine if the Coalition is plunged into minority government.
