A ‘hidden gem’ Butler County company gets $61.4 million defense contract to make missile parts [Journal-News, Hamilton, Ohio]
Jan. 26 A Butler County aerospace company will continue supplying components thanks to a new contract to sustain its work to supply components for weapons systems.
Raytheon Missiles & Defense recently awarded a $61.4 million contract to Magellan Aerospace Corporation for the supply of complex missile fin components that will be manufactured at Magellan’s facility in Middletown.
These heat-tolerant surface control assemblies will be manufactured at Magellan’s facility adjacent to the Middletown Regional Airport with deliveries through 2024.
According to Magellan officials, the company has participated in the Standard Missile program for more than 20 years, supplying dorsal fins. These missiles provide area defense to the U.S. Military against enemy missiles.

This is currently a serious matter since aircraft carriers are specifically developed to be the sea base of major fighter jets that protects a country s borders from sudden foreign attacks.
A new assessment of the USS Gerald R. Ford was carried out by Pentagon testers
The testers said the trouble was with the USS Ford s new, high-tech aircraft takeoff and landing systems
The systems were said to have experienced failures more often than expected
The unreliability of the systems could adversely affect the USS Ford s ability to carry out military sorties according to testers

Chinese Navy Expanding Bases Near South China Sea

The Chinese Navy, formally known as the PLAN (People’s Liberation Army Navy), conducted a live-fire exercise several days ago over the South China Sea utilizing a newly expanded naval base.
Harbin Z-9 helicopters took off from a base at Sanya on the southern tip of Hainan and fired anti-ship missiles at simulated targets. The Z-9, a license-built variant of the Eurocopter AS365 Dauphin, is a standard shipboard helicopter the PLAN flies. The exercise itself sends a signal, but the base from which the helicopters took off is crucial. The base has been massively improved over the past year.
