Bugatti Divo Handout / Bugatti
Bugatti is recalling 79 examples of its Chiron, Chiron Sport, and Divo models in the U.S. because of a defect with the cars’ Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
On affected models, built between December 2017 and September 2020, the problem may disable some of the functionality of the driving aid.
Specifically, the software error may, after an ignition cycle, cause the ESC to “not automatically default back to the full-function original mode if the Handling Mode is selected on the Drive Mode switch,” says the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The Bugatti Chiron’s price tag started at roughly US$2.6 million in 2017. The Divo costs roughly twice that. The three models share many of their underlying chassis hardpoints and components.

Bugatti Recalls Chirons and Divos Over Stability Control Fault Brian Silvestro © Bugatti Bugatti is recalling a total 79 Chirons, Chiron Sports, and Divos over a stability control fault that makes the cars non-compliant with Federal standards.
Are you one of the lucky few individuals in the U.S. who owns a new Bugatti Chiron, Chiron Sport, or Divo? Well, your car might need a fix. The company has issued an official recall through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for a total of 79 Bugattis built between 2017 and 2020 over a faulty stability control system.
The recall affects certain Chirons, Chiron Sports, and even some of the company s $5.8 Divos. While these cars hold different positions and different price points within Bugatti s lineup, they re vastly similar underneath. So it makes sense they d use the same sort of stability control software. Here s how NHSTA s site explains the fault:
