Miami-Dade Superintendent Alberto Carvalho says with COVID-19 case numbers spiking as they are, he s issuing a mask mandate for the upcoming school year. All teachers, students, and staffers will be required to wear face coverings when school begins on August 23rd. This announcement comes after Broward County School Board members are debating the issue, but so far have not come to a final decision.
Carvalho says he is monitoring the numbers and all new information and will pivot accordingly.
There is good news from the school district today.
