Maharashtra: Thane reports 394 new COVID-19 cases, 36 more deaths

The COVID-19 tally in Maharashtra's Thane district has gone up to 5,22,477 with the addition of 394 new cases of the viral infection, an official said on Wednesday. These new cases were reported on Tuesday, he said.

Waterlogging was reported from various parts of the twin-city including Bakery Lane, Munshi Compound, Krishna-Sthal, Hatkesh, Western Park and some areas in the proximity of the national highway. âIt is a regular ordeal which we have to face every year. This time the first spell of rains has left our locality inundated, we are unsure of our fate ahead,â said L. Deepak, a resident of Bakery Lane in Bhayandar (west).

This is the lowest count of active cases in the twin-city since February 24 2021, when 496 patients were under treatment for the infection. Earlier, the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) had reported 518 new cases on a single day on April 24, even as active cases hit a record high of 4,527 patients, who were either undergoing treatment at various public and private health care facilities or in isolation at homes.
