Some residents of Plan, Lowmans Leeward were startled Thursday morning when gunshots rang out; shots they later learned had been fired by police during the apprehension of two men who had escaped from prison the day before.

Commissioner of Police Colin John has acknowledged the role of citizens in the recapture of escaped prisoners Veron Primus and Olric “Chucky” Hanson.
In a release issued on Thursday, hours after the recapture of the two murder accused, the police said that at about 9:30 am, acting on credible information received, a party of police officers journeyed to a house in Campden Park and recaptured the escapees.
“During the process, a struggle ensued and Olric Hanson received a gunshot wound to his left leg. He was taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital for medical attention.”
