During this morning s Radiothon, Doug & Kelly went thru the staggering numbers of the children patients currently being cared for at The Bernard & Millie Duker Children s Hospital at Albany Med. They were then joined by Dr. Barbara Ostrov, Chief of Service at the Children s Hospital, who shared some insight on the work they do & some reasons why it s so important to donate.

During Day 2 of the 99.5 The River Cares for Kids Radiothon, Bob Hauer had the opportunity to talk to Jennifer Fogg, mother of 4 year old Logan Fogg. Logan was born with congenital glioblastoma, an extremely rare malignant brain tumor. During the interview, Jennifer shares the story of how he became diagnosed & all the stages between then & today. The next thing for Logan to overcome will be the ability to play Hockey, a family favorite sport.

Doug & Kelly had the opportunity to talk to a Capital Region name that may sound familiar to you - Kristi Gustafson Barlette from the Times Union. Like so many others in the Capital Region, Kristi too has a personal experience with The Bernard & Millie Duker Children s Hospital at Albany Med & shared her story during the Cares for Kids Radiothon.
Fourth of July weekend last year, her then 3 year old daughter cut her foot badly on a floor heating register & was rushed to The Massry Family Chidlren s Emergency Center at Albany Med for treatment. Listen to the interview to find out why Kristi found the ER to be a relaxing & comforting place, and just how important the Child Life Specialists can be in comforting children in ways parents cannot.

WGY News Anchor Diane Donato & Jaime Roberts from 98.3 TRY had a chance to talk to 4 year old Hudson Smith & his father Kyle of Fort Plain. In addition to sharing Hudson s story of being diagnosed at 2 with juenile pilocytic astrocytoma (JPA), a rare childhood brain tumor, they also touched base on Hudson s favorite playtime activity which he kindly invited Diane & Jaime to join him in, his favorite song & more.
His father Kyle also shared how the Bernard & Millie Duker Children s Hospital at Albany Med not only provides care for the child, but the entire family as a whole. Hear Hudson s story now:
