Timor-Leste is one of the world’s youngest countries, having gained full independence in 2002 following more than 400 years of colonial rule by Portugal and a quarter century of occupation by Indonesia. It is also one of the poorer countries in Asia, yet with tremendous potential for rapid development. Timor-Leste has vast oil wealth that it intends to invest in the infrastructure and human capital of the country. If successful, this kind of investment-led growth could spur extraordinarily rapid economic development. The challenge is to avoid the resource curse and carry out an effective Strategic Development Plan (SDP) that
International Nurses Day 2021: ‘A voice to lead, a vision for future healthcare’

So today, we salute them and thank them for their noble sacrifice.

Summary
The cumulative impacts of climate change over the next two or three decades have the potential to reverse much of the progress made towards the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals, Sustainable Development Goals and Vision 2030.
Worldwide, building operations and the construction sector are suspected to account for nearly 40 per cent of global energy-related carbon emissions, according to a report by Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction.
As the world fights the Covid-19 pandemic, we must not forget the bigger threat of climate change.
According to the UN, climate change threatens to adversely affect economic growth worldwide, and Kenya is no exception.
This is what is needed to meet the Sustainable Development Goals
The pandemic’s impact on the world’s poor has been especially harsh. COVID-19 may have pushed about 100 million people into extreme poverty in 2020 alone, while the UN warns that in some regions poverty could rise to levels not seen in 30 years. The current crisis has derailed progress toward basic development goals, as low-income developing countries must now balance urgent spending to protect lives and livelihoods with longer-term investments in health, education, physical infrastructure, and other essential needs.
In a new study, we propose a framework for developing countries to evaluate policy choices that can raise long-term growth, mobilize more revenue, and attract private investments to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Even with ambitious domestic reforms, most low-income developing countries will not be able to raise the necessary resources to finance these goals. They need decisive and ex
