Paramedic dies during medical call in Mille Lacs County
While assisting with the medical call, one of the paramedics began to feel weak and dizzy and collapsed while on the scene and became unresponsive, the Mille Lacs County Sheriff s Office reported.

ISLE, Minn. Both a patient and a paramedic died Wednesday, Jan. 6, in separate occurrences during a 911 medical emergency call at a residence in Isle, Minn.
The Mille Lacs County Sheriff s Office reported emergency responders were dispatched at 11:39 p.m. to a medical emergency at a residence in Isle. Deputies and emergency personnel from Mille Lacs Health System attempted life-saving measures on the patient, but were unsuccessful. The 58-year-old Isle resident was pronounced dead at the scene.

MILLE LACS COUNTY, Minn. (FOX 9) - A Minnesota paramedic died on duty after he collapsed while at the scene of a medical call, according to the Mille Lacs County Sheriff s Office.
According to officials, paramedic Toby Rowan was among the responders to a medical incident Wednesday night. Unfortunately, the patient did not survive. While still at the scene, Rowan collapsed. Deputies and other medics attempted to revive him, but he passed away.
A central Minnesota paramedic collapsed and died Wednesday night while on duty.
Toby Rowan had just finished responding to a medical call for the Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia and was still on the scene when he collapsed, according to a statement from the Mille Lacs County Sheriff s Office.
Sheriff s deputies and other paramedics who had responded to the call attempted to revive Rowan, but were unsuccessful.
The patient who Rowan was trying to save also died, the sheriff s office said.
Rowan had worked for the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC) for the past five years. His wife, Darcy, is a nurse at the hospital, which is located in Crosby.
Mille Lacs Tribal Police are investigating the death.

ONAMIA A 20-year-old pedestrian was killed Wednesday, Dec. 9, after being hit by a vehicle on Virgo Road in Mille Lacs County.
The Mille Lacs Tribal Police responded to the fatal crash at 1:19 a.m. The pedestrian was identified as Chey Amos Garbow.
Anyone with information on the hit-and-run is asked to contact tribal police at 320-532-3430.
Tribal police are investigating the death, with help from the Mille Lacs County Sheriff s Office and Minnesota State Patrol.

An Onamia man, Chey Amos Garbow, 20, was the victim of a fatal vehicle hit and run on the morning of Dec. 9, 2020. The incident occurred at 1:19 a.m. on Virgo Road, just north of Cashâs Landing, in Mille Lacs County on the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Reservation.
No one has been arrested, and the death investigation is ongoing. The Mille Lacs Band Tribal Police is the agency handling the investigation, with Mille Lacs County Sheriffâs Office, Minnesota State Patrol, and the Midwest Medical Examinerâs Office assisting at the scene. It is believed the suspected car is silver in color and was headed south on Virgo Road.
