The seat is currently held by Republican Sen. Ron Johnson. Lasry, a Democrat, is a New York native and son of hedge-fund billionaire Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry. Johnson, one of former President Donald Trump s staunchest allies in the Senate, has yet to announce whether he plans to run for a third term.
