Investigation underway after inmate death in Milwaukee County Jail An investigation is underway after the death of an inmate inside the Milwaukee County Jail Monday. The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office says correctional officers found the 26-year-old man unresponsive in his cell around 12:03 p.m. on April 5, 2021. Officers and medical personnel began performing life-saving measures, which were taken over by the Milwaukee Fire Department paramedics when they arrived. The man was pronounced dead at 12:44 p.m. The department identified the inmate as Anthony Walther of Milwaukee. He was booked into custody on February 16, 2021. Walther’s body was transferred to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. When trying to revive him, the department says there were no apparent signs of self-harm.

  On Monday, April 5, at approximately 12:03 p.m., a 26-year-old male in custody at the Milwaukee County Jail was found unresponsive in his cell. Milwaukee County Sheriff’s correctional officers and medical personnel immediately began performing life-saving measures. Milwaukee Fire Department paramedics arrived shortly thereafter and continued performing life-saving measures. However, the man was pronounced deceased at 12:44 p.m. The deceased, Anthony Walther of Milwaukee, was booked into custody on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. When he was found unresponsive in his individual cell during lunch service today, there were no apparent signs of self-harm. His body was transferred to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

The boy was identified by the Medical Examiner s Office Friday as Alex Hernandez. He died Thursday at Children s Hospital, according to a report from the medical examiner s office.  Mayor Tom Barrett s spokesman, Jeff Fleming, confirmed the death with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
