Suspect criminally charged in connection to a fatal crash that killed a beloved Dean from Marquette University

On Wednesday, January 20, 2021, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office issued criminal charges against Jordan Jones in connection to a fatal accident that caused the death of Marquette University Dean
Joseph Daniels. The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at approximately 8:11 p.m., on the 1000 block of W. Wisconsin Avenue.
Jones was charged with one count of Hit and Run – Resulting in Death and one count of Knowingly Operate Motor Vehicle While Suspended – Cause Death. If convicted he could face up to 31 years in prison and he may be fined up to $110,000.
The call to officials came in around 11:50 p.m.
Police say the suspect, a 35-year-old Milwaukee man, obtained and fired a handgun in his sleep and subsequently struck the victim.
The 29-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect was arrested. Police say charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney s Office.
An investigation is ongoing.
Occupied MPD squad car hit by gunfire near 42nd and Capitol

MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee police are investigating a shots fired incident that happened near N. 42nd Street and W. Capitol Drive early Saturday morning, Jan. 9.
Police say officers were on patrol on in their marked squad car shortly after 2:30 a.m. when they stopped at a red light and heard a gunshot. A bullet had struck their vehicle.
Officers observed a vehicle that was next to them that appeared to have a bullet strike on the rear driver’s side door. Officers conducted a stop of the vehicle and observed that the apparent bullet strike appeared to be coming from inside the vehicle.
MPD: Teen plays with gun which discharges, wounding 19-year-old

MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee police have a 16-year-old boy in custody in connection with the shooting of a 19-year-old near 107th and Villard on Thursday, Jan. 7.
Officials say the suspect was playing with a gun around 5:15 p.m. when it discharged, subsequently striking the victim.
The victim, a 19-year-old man from Milwaukee, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He walked to a nearby hospital for treatment.

MILWAUKEE - Police say a 24-year-old Milwaukee man has been taken into custody in connection with a fatal crash near 60th and Burleigh on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 31.
That man has a troubling history of reckless driving. Investigators say he struck and killed another pedestrian in 2016 and was already facing charges for hitting another person prior to Thursday s crash.
