MPD responds to 3 shootings in just over 4 hours Friday

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating three separate shootings that happened over a period of just more than four hours on Friday, Feb. 26.
Three men were injured, one seriously, and one suspect is in custody.

A 22-year-old Milwaukee man was shot and injured just before noon. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The suspect, a 34-year-old Milwaukee man, was arrested. Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney s Office in the coming days.
According to police, the shooting appears to be the result of an argument.

In June 2016, 23-year-old Jay Anderson, Jr., was shot and killed by then-Wauwatosa Police Officer Joseph Mensah. The Milwaukee County District Attorney s Office declined to bring charges in this case.

WAUWATOSA, Wis. - The family of a man shot and killed by Joseph Mensah is petitioning a state court to appoint a special prosecutor and file charges against the former Wauwatosa police officer.
In June 2016, Mensah shot and killed Jay Anderson Jr. in a Wauwatosa park. That shooting was ruled justified. We believe the probe into Jay Anderson s death wasn t an investigation but was more about justification, said Attorney Kimberley Motley, who represents the Anderson family.
