Number of years working in your current industry:
Nou Thao, respiratory therapist, has worked with COVID-19 patients since the beginning of the pandemic in hospitals in New Jersey, Texas, Florida and her home state of Wisconsin.
While in New Jersey, Thao contracted the disease herself after working days without the proper personal protection equipment.
Thao only had an ill-fitting mask and gloves, she said.
Following her fifth shift she collapsed in the elevator of her hotel. She crawled to her room, but did not have the strength to even dial 911. Hotel management called her an ambulance.
Committee voted for her without necessary background check. By Jeramey Jannene - Dec 14th, 2020 04:12 pm //end headline wrapper ?>Amanda Avalos. Photo provided.
Amanda Avalos, who could cast a potential tie-breaking vote to select Milwaukee’s next police chief, received her own tie-breaking vote Monday morning. By a 3-2 vote the divided Public Safety & Health Committee endorsed Avalos’ appointment to the Fire & Police Commission (FPC). It will now go to the full council.
UPDATE 5:49 p.m.:
Avalos confirmation is likely to be delayed because a formal background check has not been completed. City ordinance requires the check be completed by Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office before approval.

An international law enforcement association sent a research document to thousands of members this fall that called Black Lives Matter protesters “terrorists” who work with gangs and drug cartels to engage in “urban guerrilla” warfare.
That organization, the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA), has deep ties to Wisconsin law enforcement including Kenosha-area departments heavily involved in the response to protests for racial justice in that city this summer.
The 176-page document “Understanding Antifa and Urban Guerrilla Warfare,” was emailed to the ILEETA’s members in October, according to the Associated Press, which first reported on the document.
