Rules Governing Certification
(a) identify training and ethical standards for paralegals working in Wisconsin;
(b) recognize the professional commitment of paralegals who choose to become State Bar of Wisconsin Certified Paralegals;
(c) provide a benchmark for paralegal standards for State Bar lawyer-members who do or plan to work with paralegals in their practices; and
(d) promote greater access to legal services and the justice system for members of the public by assisting State Bar members in locating and better utilizing the services of qualified paralegals.

Steve Wille
Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction, an Appleton-based design–build firm, has promoted Steve Wille to vice president of Business Development.
Currently serving as a senior project manager/architect and the Business Professional Market Leader at Hoffman, Wille has more than 30 years of experience in design and construction.
Wille, who became a Hoffman minority owner in 2017, is a graduate of Milwaukee Area Technical College. He is a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design accredited professional, a certified Project Management Professional and a member of the American Institute of Architects.

Laquitha âElleâ Bonds has been appointed vice president, human resources at Milwaukee Area Technical College. She will oversee talent management, succession planning, innovation, collaboration, employee recognition, compensation, benefits, legal compliance and data analysis; position MATC as a preferred employer; and serve as a change agent for diversity, equity, inclusion and multiculturalism. Bonds was previously director of talent operations at Waukesha County Technical College. She holds a bachelorâs from Concordia University and a masterâs from Cardinal Stritch University.

Amanda Avalos, who could cast a potential tie-breaking vote to select Milwaukee’s next police chief, received her own tie-breaking vote Monday morning. By a 3-2 vote the divided Public Safety & Health Committee endorsed Avalos’ appointment to the Fire & Police Commission (FPC). It will now go to the full council.
UPDATE 5:49 p.m.:
Avalos confirmation is likely to be delayed because a formal background check has not been completed. City ordinance requires the check be completed by Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office before approval.

An international law enforcement association sent a research document to thousands of members this fall that called Black Lives Matter protesters “terrorists” who work with gangs and drug cartels to engage in “urban guerrilla” warfare.
That organization, the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA), has deep ties to Wisconsin law enforcement including Kenosha-area departments heavily involved in the response to protests for racial justice in that city this summer.
The 176-page document “Understanding Antifa and Urban Guerrilla Warfare,” was emailed to the ILEETA’s members in October, according to the Associated Press, which first reported on the document.
