Pearson to axe office space in restructuring
The shake-up of its corporate offices into a smaller footprint will cost £140m in 2021

Pearson will slash a significant amount of its office space as part of a major restructuring of the business.
The educational publisher became the latest FTSE 100 company to ditch large swathes of its property portfolio as it adapts to a more permanent shift to home working.
The restructuring of its corporate offices into a smaller footprint will cost £140m this year. As we change the way we work, we will simplify our property portfolio and occupy a significantly smaller square footage which will be fully technology enabled supporting collaboration and creativity, it said.

Little Marlow doesn’t scream “a galaxy far, far away”. The leafy Buckinghamshire village may boast River Thames walks and nearby Michelin-starred restaurants, but it has always been somewhat lacking in vast desert landscapes and alien terrain.
Now, though, an otherworldly civilisation appears to have taken root. Since the start of the year, a field just a stone’s throw from the river has been transformed into a scorched retro-futuristic city. “It’s absolutely bonkers,” says one excited local. “I was just going for a walk over the weekend and realised the new
