The Fiji Red Cross Society has managed to restore communication between 102 families who were experiencing difficulty in getting in touch with their loved ones due to the devastation caused by TC Yasa.
The Restoring Family Links program was initiated by the Red Cross and the International Committee of the Red Cross to restore contact between families as mobile networks went down due to the destruction of transmission towers.
International Committee of the Red Cross Protection Coordinator Björn Rahm says families can be separated or lose means to stay in touch and one of the biggest anguish is not knowing if their loved ones are safe.
