FPCCI, Iqra University inks MoU to foster academia-industry linkages May 6, 2021 The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and Iqra University (IU) have signed an agreement for working together to create Academia-Industry Linkages and promote knowledge economy. President PFCCI, Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo and Vice Chancellor of Iqra University, Prof. Dr. Wasim Qazi has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at a ceremony held here at Iqra University, Karachi on Wednesday. The MoU focused on creating an effective academia-industry linkage to establish long-term and sustainable partnership for the joint policy-oriented research activities to foster the culture of entrepreneurship; and for playing a supporting role in Pakistan’s business and economic growth.

FPCCI urges govt to cut short Eid holidays to three

Daily Times May 4, 2021 The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Monday demanded the government to cut short Eid holidays to three from five in order to avoid business and economic losses. The apex trade body expressed displeasure over yet another set of SOPs and public holidays on account of Eid-Ul-Fitr announced by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) without consulting the business, industrial, and trade community of Pakistan. President FPCCI Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo demanded that industries and markets should only be closed for 3 days on account of Eid-Ul-Fitr; otherwise, there will be irreversible loss to already struggling businesses and huge shortfall in tax collection will further decelerate the economic activity. Pakistan has potential to earns huge foreign exchange by citrus export

Daily Times Country earned highest export revenue of $222 million from kinnow last year April 27, 2021 Pakistani kinnow industry witnessed a breakthrough last week as Iran lifted restrictions on the import of Pakistani kinnow, Gwadar Pro reported on Monday. Pakistan is one of the top citrus producers in the world. Citrus contributes about 30% to the country’s total fruit output. Last year, Pakistan earned its highest export revenue from kinnow of $222 million amounting to 370,000 tonnes, according to a report on Pakistani citrus industry released by the China-Pakistan Agricultural and Industrial Cooperation Information Platform (CPAIC). The report also points out that most of the citrus fruits produced by Pakistan are consumed in foreign markets. Among the exported varieties, kinnow is the most important one. However, as old varieties are wearing out, kinnow quality is worsening.
