HARIPUR: A teenage boy drowned in Haro River near Khanpur Dam, police said here on Saturday.
The police quoted eyewitnesses as saying that some youngsters were bathing in the water accumulated near Tarnava Bridge because of usual leakage from the Khanpur Dam’s spillways, when one of them slipped into river and drowned.
The rescue workers fished out the body and shifted it to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Khanpur. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Shahzad, 17, a resident of Rawalpindi.
Separately, six persons, including three women, were injured in two road accidents in different parts of the city on Saturday.

People in the 18-44 age group living in rural districts of Telangana are not able to get COVID-19 vaccine shots despite being eligible. Currently, they are not offered the jab at Government COVID-19 Vaccination Centres (GCVC). And majority of the corporate hospitals which are offering the vaccination are located in and around Hyderabad. Only one or two private hospitals have opened slots for the age group in a few rural districts.
