Supreme Court lawyer Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallab submitted the petition on behalf of 324 candidates, who didn t qualify as per the merit list, requesting the HC to direct the authorities concerned of the government to cancel the merit list and to publish a fresh list through reevaluating the admission test result. In the petition, they said the authorities have not followed the provisions of the MBBS test rules for deducting 7.5 points from the total number scored by a candidate, who already got admitted as MBBS student but sat for the exam again, and the provisions for deducting 5 points from total number scored by a candidate who passed HSC last year in cases of many candidates.

Law and Life Foundation sent the legal notice through its lawyers Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallab and Mohammed Kawsar, also asking the authorities concerned of the government to conduct an inquiry to find out the persons responsible for the deaths and to bring them to justice.

A total of 48,975 students passed against 12,690 seats in 47 public and 70 private medical colleges across the country for the academic year 2020-21. The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Sardar Md Rashed Jahangir told the petitioners that no such emergency situation has been created in the country at this moment that this court should pass an order. The government has been trying its best to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic and is now trying to bring Covid-19 vaccine from more than three countries. If we make any interference in this situation, a panic might be created in society, Justice Enayetur Rahim said.
