LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred early Sunday morning involving a Lubbock Police Officer.
A pursuit began around 3 a.m. after the officer attempted a traffic stop.
The crash occurred at East Broadway and Cesar E Chavez Drive at 3:07 a.m.
The officer was transported to University Medical Center with minor injuries.
The west bound lanes of East Broadway have been reopened from East Canyon Lakes Drive to Cesar E Chavez Drive.

(News Release) The Lubbock Police Department Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating a crash in which a vehicle hit a pedestrian around 9:45 p.m. Feb. 24 in the 2200 block of the Marsha Sharp Freeway eastbound access road.
A Dodge Avenger, driven by 27-year-old Raul Lopez, was traveling eastbound in the 2200 block of the Marsha Sharp Freeway access road. The pedestrian, 43-year-old Jacob R. Thomas, was walking southbound across the lanes of traffic. The vehicle struck Thomas, who was transported to UMC with serious injuries. No one was injured in the vehicle.

(News Release) The Lubbock Police Department is conducting directed enforcement against traffic violations in several areas of Lubbock today to encourage citizens to drive safely and follow traffic laws.
The traffic enforcement unit will be conducting operations at 82nd Street and Milwaukee Avenue, Marsha Sharp Freeway and Interstate 27, and West Loop 289 between 19th Street and 50th Street throughout the day.
This directed enforcement is the start to an ongoing operation to reduce traffic crashes and fatal crashes in Lubbock after a concerning start to 2021. To date, the Major Crash Investigation Unit has responded to seven fatal crashes resulting in 10 deaths. In the same period in 2020, the unit responded to five crashes resulting in six deaths. In a
