A CHILMARK-BASED disaster response charity RE:ACT today (June 18)marks the end of its 15-month long Covid-19 emergency response. Op RE:ACT, which launched on March 27, was the charity s longest continuous operation to date lasting 449 days. Teams of volunteers were deployed across the country, including Salisbury where they carried out welfare checks and also supported the vaccination hub at City Hall. Ben Lampard, RE:ACT director of humanitarian operations, pictured below, said: “RE:ACT has been on the frontline of the UK’s Covid response for 15 months but now the emergency phase is over, the time is right for us to step down.
The Chilean Government has announced Thursday that the Santiago Metropolitan Area will return to full quarantine as of this Friday in light of the increase in coronavirus infections.
Covid third wave scare peaks
Taking a lead, the Jammu and Kashmir governmet has started preparations, war-footing, for the suspected third wave of Coronavirus by creating Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in different hospitals.
Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Sunday inspected the work of a 500-bedded dedicated COVID hospital being constructed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) at Khonmoh in Kashmir. He emphasized the importance of developing specialized critical care for infants and children. He directed the officials to prepare a 25-bedded Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in the facility with a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, dieticians, and coordinators.
Demanding to fulfill the promises made to the doctors, the Telangana Senior Doctors Association alongside Junior doctors have unanimously taken a decision to boycott all the Covid related duties from May 26 except for ICU cases and Critical care units
