Thirty-five years ago, royalism ran amok as thousands of adoring fans greeted the Queen in Macquarie Street before an appearance at the Entertainment Centre that âoutdrew Bruce Springsteen.â

Royalism is running amok in Sydney.
Listen to 71-year-old Margaret Cleghorn, who stood for three hours to see the Queen yesterday at the Palace Gardens Gate: âIâd say weâve got those republicans and egg-throwers on the run.â
About 20,000 Sydneysiders gave the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh a rapturous welcome when they arrived in Macquarie St, March 4, 1986.

I am a 38-year-old woman, mom of two, and I love Harry Potter.
Always have, always will. I have read each of the seven books several times, know the movies by heart, and adore the section of Barnes & Noble where the trinkets and gifts inspired by the series are stacked: pretend wands, golden Snitch alarm clocks, talking Sorting Hats. I just love the magic of it all.

Do you remember Christmas in the 1980s?
If you were growing up during the decade you probably have a fond remembrance for the toys, the ones which shaped our childhood and changed forever the way the holiday was marketed.
People stood in lines for hours for the Nintendo Entertainment System and a Cabbage Patch Kid.
Those were the biggies, but there were so many more:
Strawberry Shortcake, Teddy Ruxpin, Rainbow Brite, Laser Tag, Star Wars, Barbie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Rubik’s Cube, Pee Wee Herman, and ALF!
