ECC allows import of 600,000 metric tons of sugar

ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet on Wednesday decided to merge a summary tabled by the Ministry of Industries and Production for allowing import of 100,000 metric tons of sugar after knowing that the federal cabinet had approved the import of 600,000 metric tons of sugar in order to build up strategic reserves.
Top officials told The News in the background discussions after the ECC meeting that the forum had earlier approved import of 200,000 metric tons of sugar but when this issue came under discussion in the federal cabinet this week, it was decided to add 300,000 to 400,000 metric tons more to it so that a total of 600,000 metric tons of sugar would be imported in totality in order to build up strategic reserves in the domestic market.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Monday congratulated all successful candidates of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and thanked people of AJK for reposing trust in PTI through their votes, resulting in its electoral victory.

As ambassador for Kashmir, I will continue to raise my voice on all international forums including the UN to ensure the international community fulfills its commitment of self-determination to the Kashmiri people through a UN-sponsored plebiscite,” he said in tweets.
Premier Imran also said, “I want to thank the people of AJK for placing their trust in PTI through their votes which resulted in PTI’s electoral victory. We will focus on bringing the people out of poverty through Ehsaas and Kamyab Pakistan programmes and establish accountability and transparency in government”.

ISLAMABAD, July 27 (Gwadar Pro) - Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday afternoon predicted that Pakistan s ports will provide important trade routes under the multi-billion-dollar China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
