ALERT DAYS: More snow and bitter cold are on the way February 2, 2021 9:57 AM Chris Reece Updated: MADISON, Wis.   For the fourth time in the last two weeks, a winter storm may bring accumulating snows to parts of southern Wisconsin. This time, a push of bitter cold is set to follow, and it could be the coldest period since the snap of January 2019, which was influenced by the Polar Vortex. As a result, the News 3 Now First Warn Weather Team has deemed Thursday, and Saturday through Tuesday, ALERT days. TIMING AND IMPACTS: As of now, this system looks to arrive during the morning hours of Thursday in the west, and spreading eastward towards Madison during the lunchtime hours.

By Chris Reece Jan 29, 2021 3:24 PM MADISON, Wis.   The snow has barely settled after several inches fell over southern Wisconsin on Monday, but once again heavy snow is taking aim at the Midwest with some of the same areas in its crosshairs. As a result, the News 3 Now First Warn Weather Team has made Saturday and Sunday ALERT days. Meanwhile, Winter Storm Watches have been issued for parts of the area from 3PM Saturday through Noon Sunday. These are the areas currently at greatest risk to exceed 6 inches of snow by Sunday afternoon. TIMING AND IMPACTS:  Saturday will start out mostly cloudy and breezy, with snow developing late in the day and into the early evening.

LIST: Southern Wisconsin communities declare snow emergencies

By Stephanie Fryer Jan 29, 2021 5:07 PM MADISON, Wis. Communities across southern Wisconsin are issuing snow emergencies as the region prepares for another round of winter weather. Total snow accumulation will range from around 2″ north of Wisconsin Dells to 8″ or a little more down toward the Illinois state line. Here’s a list of communities that have declared snow emergencies in preparation ahead of this weekend’s storm: Blue Mounds – The village’s snow emergency goes into effect at 11 p.m. on Saturday. It lasts until 11 p.m. on Sunday. No street parking is allowed during this time as a result of the declaration. Residents who have no off-street parking available are encouraged to find alternate parking. The Village of Blue Mounds will issue citations or tow vehicles if deemed necessary.
