GREENWICH Construction of a new Eastern Greenwich Civic Center took another step forward but major questions remain, including whether construction money will be approved and how much will be privately financed.
On Tuesday, the Board of Estimate and Taxation Budget Committee quickly and unanimously endorsed releasing $530,000 to finalize the design and get the project ready to go out to bid. A full BET vote is still needed.

GREENWICH Things were different at the Griffith E. Harris Golf Course back in the day.
Decades ago, long before the internet, golfers would form a vehicular queue in the predawn hours every Saturday and Sunday during the season. The first to arrive would keep his headlights on until the second car parked, at which point the first would flick off his beams. The pattern would continue, with the headlights marking one’s place in line, as more golfers arrived, each vying for the earliest, most sought-after tees times at Greenwich’s sole municipal course.

GREENWICH, CT As the weather warms up and the state prepares to open coronavirus vaccine eligibility to all residents between the ages of 16 and 44 this week, First Selectman Fred Camillo urged residents to keep their guard up.
During a press update Wednesday afternoon, Camillo said a total of 4,502 cases of the virus have been reported thus far in Greenwich as of Tuesday, an increase of 171 cases since last week.
The total active cases of the virus in town rose to 173, an increase of 42 since last week, Camillo said. The number of reported deaths in town as a result of the virus remained flat this week at 87, Camillo said.
