CHENNAI: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu by Governor Banwari Lal Purohit during a simple ceremony at the Raj Bhawan on Friday. Besides Stalin, the Governor also administered the oath to 33 other lawmakers as the Ministers.
With this, the
DMK led by MK Stalin has seized power, after a ten-year gap, for a sixth time in its history by winning the 2021 Assembly elections securing a comfortable majority on its own.

CHENNAI: Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin, the DMK president who led his party to a huge victory in the Assembly polls was sworn in as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Friday.
Governor Banwarilal Purohit administered the oath of office and secrecy to 68-year old Stalin, for whom this would be the first stint as CM, in a simple ceremony at the Raj Bhavan here.
AIADMK top leader O Panneerselvam, leaders from alliance parties including Congress’s P Chidambaram, MDMK chief Vaiko and top state officials took part in the ceremony.

DMK leader MK Stalin, 68, was administered the oath as the CM of Tamil Nadu, along with a 33-member Cabinet, by Governor Banwarilal Purohit in a simple ceremony on the lawns of Raj Bhavan in Chennai on Friday. Stalin, took oath as âMuthuvel Karunanidhi Stalinâ, invoking the name of his father, a 5-time CM of the state. Soon after assuming office, Stalin and his cabinet colleagues paid homage at the memorial of Dravidian stalwarts and even visited his late fatherâs Gopalapuram residence where he turned emotional.
However, once he reached Fort St George, the seat of power in Tamil Nadu, he got into action mode. In his first decision, he signed 5 files to fulfil some of the major electoral promises he had made.
