Thamsanqa Sangweni starts training with Chippa United

KickOff.com broke the news of Sangweni s imminent return to the club last month and now understands the player approached the Port Elizabeth side and asked to be taken back following the return of Dan Malesela as head coach. Sangweni has been plying his trade at Eswatini Premier League giants Mbabane Highlanders but had to cut short his stay due to inconducive conditions. The 31-year-old has now left Highlanders after only joining in November 2020 and joins Siviwe Mpengesi s side for this third spell. According to a source, Sangweni s delay in joining the club was due to the Chilli Boys being on the road as they have been playing all their home games away.

Daine Klate shows support for underfire Orlando Pirates coach Josef

Former Orlando Pirates winger Daine Klate has shown support for coach Josef Zinnbauer and what he has achieved so far, as supporters call for the German s sacking. Pirates fans have grown impatient with Zinnbauer despite his delivery of the MTN8 trophy to the club s cabinet after a six-year drought. The 50-year-old, currently in his second season since arriving midway through 2019/20, has seemingly frustrated some of the fans who feel the team is not where it should be in as far as challenging Mamelodi Sundowns for the Premiership title. Klate, who was part of the club s double-treble winning generation, believes Zinnbauer has exceeded expectations thus far and brought back the excitement to The Buccaneers play.

Josef Zinnbauer receives Joseph Makhanya backing

Jan 29, 2021 - 08:00 pm By Nkululeko Dladla Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Joseph Makhanya doesn t think it would be wise to let go of coach Jozef Zinnbauer after a Soweto Derby defeat this weekend. The German coach is going into Saturday s derby under pressure from supporters, despite ending the club s six-year trophy drought with the MTN8 triumph this season. The Buccaneers faithful have already started calling for his head as the club seems to be struggling to keep up with defending DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the league race. Makhanya feels, as much as Zinnbauer has his own flaws, particularly with his selections and playing some of the key players out of position, he has done well and it wouldn t make sense to sack him so soon.

Azola Tshobeni praised by Augusto Palacios after Orlando Pirates debut

Jan 25, 2021 - 11:34 am By Ernest Fakude Former Orlando Pirates head of development Augusto Palacios has heaped praise on youngster Azola Tshobeni after he made his DStv Premiership debut against Maritzburg United on Saturday. Tshobeni, who was promoted to the senior team from the DStv Diski Challenge team together with Thabiso Sesane at the start of the season, made his first official appearance in the black and white colours as Bucs beat United 1-0 at Harry Gwala Stadium. The 18-year-old midfielder showed class and held his own against the Team of Choice, and was unlucky to lose the man-of-the-match award to Thabang Monare, who also had a splendid game.
