COLUMBIA, S.C. – As Mike Pence discussed his tenure as vice president with some 500 religious Republicans in South Carolina, some listeners couldn t help but wonder if they were seeing a preview of coming attractions. I said to my husband, Did you think this was a trial run for a campaign speech? said Beth Atwater, an attorney from Lexington, S.C., who attended Pence s speech before the Palmetto Family Council last week.
Republicans across the country are pondering Pence s chances of becoming president – thanks in part to the man who remains at the heart of Republican politics and made Pence vice president in the first place: Donald J. Trump.

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) â Former Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to visit New Hampshire in June, his first trip to the first-in-the nation presidential primary state since the 2020 general election campaign.
Pence will speak at the Hillsborough County Republican Committee s annual Lincoln-Reagan Awards Dinner in Manchester on June 3, WMUR-TV reported.
The announcement Monday came a few days after Pence told an audience in another early voting state, South Carolina, that he will spend the coming months âpushing back on the liberal agenda that he says is wrong for the country. It was his first public address since the end of the Trump administration.

Former Vice President Mike Pence is due to have a book in stores in 2023, and two years out, we can confidently predict that Pence’s volume will come nowhere near toppling sales records set by, say, “The DaVinci Code” or “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.”
Tomes by second-tier political figures rarely set the world aflame, and Pence is also in the unenviable position of being despised both by folks who adore his former boss Donald Trump, and those who abhor Trump with the heat of a thousand suns. He is viewed by detractors as having been too obsequious to Trump through most of his term, and not obsequious enough by the Trump die-hards who insist he had the power to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Congress on Jan. 6 (he did not, but that’s another story).
