Wes Welker started his professional career as an
undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech and signed with the Miami Dolphins. He spent time with both the Dolphins and Chargers as a rookie, but failed to make much of an impact with either franchise.
Welker
joined the Patriots in 2007 and emerged as a primary weapon for star quarterback Tom Brady. While a member of the Patriots, Welker played in two Super Bowls.
During
Super Bowl XLII against the New York Giants, Welker caught 11 passes for 109 yards but didn’t score a touchdown. The Patriots were defeated 17-14.
Super Bowl XLVI in 2011 was a rematch between the Giants and Pats, but once again New England was stunned by the underdogs.
A source tells SportsCenter 5 that former Patriots assistant coach Matt Patricia, who went 13-29-1 in three seasons as head coach of the Lions, is coming back to Foxborough.
