Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday expressed excitement at being flown to Bamako, Mali by Nigeria’s first female military pilot Blessing Liman and other crew members, Igbere TV reports.
Mr Jonathan arrived Bamako on Sunday as part of the ECOWAS team engaging the government and people of Mali as they seek return to democracy.
The ex-president shared his excitement in a tweet, saying: “I am pleased to have been flown to Bamako, Mali, by a pair of Nigerian Airforce pilots one of whom is Blessing Liman, a committed NAF flying officer who emerged as Nigeria’s first female military pilot under our administration.”
YarâAdua died on May 5, 2010, and Jonathan, the then vice-president took over power.
Jonathan in a series of tweets yesterday described YarâAdua as a friend and brother who shared a common vision of a peaceful and united Nigeria.
He said the late president would always be remembered as a peacemaker and nation builder.
âToday, I celebrate my boss, friend, colleague, and brother, President Umaru Musa YarâAdua who departed this world 11 years ago.
âAs politicians, we shared a common vision of a peaceful, united, and just nation.
âPresident YarâAdua kept faith with this vision, channelling his strength and time in pursuit of an egalitarian society, until his last breath.

At least 14 persons have been killed by armed bandits in Yangalu community in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State.
DAILY POST gathered the bandits stormed the community on motorcycles and shot sporadically as people scampered in various directions.
Eyewitness accounts said the bandits destroyed properties including foodstuff of villagers before moving out of the community.
The source explained that the bandits invaded the community killing seven villages and destroyed their properties.
Reacting to the incident, the Chairman of Magama Local Government Council, Sufiyanu Yahaya, while commiserating with the people on the attack assured that steps will be taken to improve the security situation in the council.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has commiserated with Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), over the death of his son, Pastor Dare.
Jonathan in a condolence message, in Abuja on Thursday, expressed sadness over the passing of the pastor, describing him as a much-loved clergyman.
Jonathan noted that the late man of God lived a life that was a pattern of good works and prayed to God to grant his soul eternal rest.
“Though I never knew Pastor Dare personally, I have had cause to meet his father, Pastor Adeboye, and it would seem that the apple did not fall far from the tree.
