News.com.au has confirmed the Greens Senator Larissa Waters has circulated a notice in the Senate today signalling her intention to introduce legislation on the matter following allegations that Mr Porter raped a teenage schoolgirl when he was 17 at a debating conference in Sydney. Mr Porter completely rejects the rape allegations as utterly baseless. He has commenced defamation proceedings against the ABC over the original story - that did not name him - but revealed a senior cabinet minister was accused of a historical rape in the 1980s.

The court today agreed with Mr Porter s request to suppress 25 pages of the 37-page defence document pending the outcome of the politician s strike-out application. This sparked accusations from the ABC that his legal move was an offence to open justice.
Christian Porter was never interviewed by police over accusations he raped a teenager in 1988 because the alleged victim never gave a formal statement.
The dumped attorney-general was accused of raping a 16-year-old member of his debating team during a trip to Sydney - which he vehemently denies.
The accuser made her initial complaint in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic and asked to give her statement over Skype - police denied her request.
